Nothing to do but laugh

Last weekend D and I took a trip alone to a casino about 2 hours north of us.  It was a delayed trip for our 10 year anniversary that we celebrated in May.  My parents came up Saturday afternoon and we left for our adventure.  It was very strange to be alone and not have to worry about getting home.  We did not win any money, but we had a wonderful dinner at an adult restaurant, stayed up half the night drinking and dancing to a live band and got to sleep in.  It was a great time and helped us to remember that we actually do like being around each other, which we often forget in the chaos of raising children.

When we arrived home on Sunday, we found that all three kids had colds.  Mackenzie had not slept much the night before and my mom had spent most of the night in their room because everytime she left, she would scream.  Nice.  We were back home and of course they get sick now, when we haven't had any illness in months!

We had lots of nose wiping and lots of tears.  The tantrums always get worse when someone doesn't feel good.  Our kids are very stubborn (shocking).  When bath time came one night this week, there was some issue about what toys could go in the tub.  As I washed Mackenzie up, she started flailing around and screaming because she wanted something, I think, I don't even know exactly what the deal was.  But as I was washing Logan she started kicking her legs and screaming.  This in turn caused water to splash all over the bathroom and all over me.  I counted and it didn't even phase her.  Finally I pulled her out of the tub and told her bath was over since she couldn't play nice.  Well this just got her even more mad and the moment I set her down on the towel, she took off...running, out of the bathroom and down the hall.  The hallway is laminate wood flooring, which is slippery when you are wet.  So here goes a 2.5 year old wet naked girl trying to run away, but she keeps slipping and falling down.  I kept calling for her, but I couldn't help but laugh, I mean the whole thing was just so ridiculous!  I really wish I would have had a camera on me at that moment.

Oh the things kids do.  Sometimes I just have to laugh because there is nothing else to do.
