Potty training. I am tired of it. Olivia trained just before age 2 and we had some regression and she didn't actual finish without any accidents until 2y3m. She has never had an accident since, including accidents at bedtime. Given her personality, she actually did very well.
I attemped to train Logan and Mackenzie around February or March. They were both oblivious to the peeing and putting the whole concept together, so I bailed and decided to wait. Attempt #2 happened over Memorial Day and Mackenzie trained in a day. She has no accidents and got it down instantly. But she still will not poop in the potty, she always goes in her Pull Up. Nothing has worked to stop that. Logan at that time still wasn't ready.
Logan, being my slow to warm up kid, I decided I would give him time and try again. For the past few weeks we have been talking about wearing underpants and being a big boy. I have told him that by 3 he would be done with diapers. He would always say not yet. But then, as my kids usually do, he surprised me and told me that he wanted to wear underpants. Just like that he wants to be a big boy. So we started sitting on the potty. This weekend we are training. He pooped in the potty without issue. He told me he had to go and he went. We are having a little more trouble with the pee in that he tells me he needs to go, we sit on the potty and then he doesn't sit there long enough to actually go. So right after getting up, he has an accident. As soon as we close that gap, he will be done. I am shocked that it's going as well as it is because he didn't seem ready.
My kids always are ready before I am. He is super proud of himself and keeps saying he is a big boy. But at least he will be trained before 3. That was my goal.
We also are done with sippy cups. Just like that we are turning into big kids. As thrilled as I am to be putting the baby stage behind us, part of me is sad that we won't ever go back. Perhaps if I actually remembered the newborn stage it wouldn't be so sad. These years are just flying by and sometimes I wish there was a pause button.
